Overflow Bible ("we") is a free daily Bible trivia game at overflowbible.com. This page explains what information is collected when you use it.
Playing without signing in
Your daily results are saved in your browser's local storage so you can see them later. This data stays on your device.
Signing in with Google
If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account ID and display name through Google Firebase Authentication. We store your first name and last initial, your friend code, your daily scores, your point balance, your friends list, and gifts sent between friends in Google Cloud Firestore. If you add a profile photo or bio, it is resized on your device and stored with your account, and other signed-in players can see it. Friends you add can see your name, favorite book, daily score, all-time points, and friends list. Your name, profile book, and scores also appear on the public world rankings to other signed-in players. Gifts you send and receive appear in your trophy case and on the weekly gift rankings, which other signed-in players can see. When you add a friend or send a gift, that person receives a notification with your name. We do not store your email address in our database, and we never sell your information.
To delete your account and data, open Profile and tap “Delete my account,” or email anthonypate04@gmail.com and we will remove it.
Party mode
When you join a party, your name, your answers and your party score are shown to the other players in that party. If you host a public party, your name and the number of players appear in the Public parties list for other signed-in players until the party starts. Party rooms are stored in Google Cloud Firestore.
Player counts and answer stats
To show how many people are playing right now and how common each answer is, the site saves the time an open tab last checked in (with a random device ID and no name) and anonymous counts of how many players gave each answer and how many got each score.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they use, so we can improve the game. It collects information such as pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location (country or city) and how long visits last, using cookies or similar technology. It does not tell us your name or email. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and you can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads, which keeps Overflow Bible free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Children
Overflow Bible is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13.
